10 Days Southern Tanzania Safari Lodge Safaris

Southern Tanzania is still relatively unknown on the “safari circuit” yet offers some of the very best safari country and game viewing experiences on the African continent. The Selous Reserve and Ruaha National Park are large and fairly wild – perfect if you don't want to see too many other safari vehicles out as you’re likely to see in the more popular north. Here, you can expect remote, private and game rich areas that are a photographer’s dream. In true modern-day safari tradition, you will finish with a few days along the coast - Tanzanian-style. Lapping up the sun at a beach lodge is the ideal end to this African adventure.

Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at Dar es salaam International Airport you will be met by your driver guide and transported to the hotel for your overnight.

Day 2: Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park
Breakfast at the hotel then drive to Mikumi National Park, you will arrive just in time for lunch. In the evening, drive through the park for sunset game drive.

Day 3: Mikumi National Park
Early morning game drive in the park, and then return to the lodge/camp for breakfast. With picnic lunch, drive to Iringa for a short visit to Ismila Pilars then proceed to Ruaha National Park for your overnight. Accommodation at the Selected Camp

Day 4: Mikumi – Ruaha National Park
With picnic lunch, drive to Ruaha National Park for the full day game drive enjoying the landscape and scenery of this unique National park.

Day 5: Ruaha National Park
You will be accompanied by an armed game ranger for a morning walking safari inside the park, return to the lodge/camp for breakfast and the rest of the morning will at your own leisure. Later, drive through the park for evening game drive. Accommodation at Selected Lodge / Camp

Day 6: Ruaha National Park – Morogoro
Breakfast at the lodge then drive to Morogoro for your overnight at Mfindi Highland Lodge, the road between Iringa and Morogoro is one of the scene roads in the Southern part of Tanzania. Picnic lunch to be provided. Accommodation at the Selected Lodge / Camp

Day 7: Morogoro – Selous Game Reserve,
Drive to Selous game reserve via Morogoro – Kisaki road for your overnight, depending on your time of arrival you will depart for evening boat safaris along Rufiji River

Day 8: Selous G.Reserve
Full day game drives exploring the biggest game reserve in Africa which has abundant African mammals. Your overnight stay will be at the bank of the great Rufiji River.

Day 9: Selous G.Reserve
Early morning walking safaris (1 – 2 hours) inside the reserve, you will be accompanied by an armed game ranger. Return back to the camp for breakfast and the rest of the morning will be at your own leisure. Later, drive to the reserve for sunset game drive.

Day 10: Selous G.Reserve – Dar es Salaam
Early morning game drive or a nature walk then after breakfast you embark on your drive back to Dar es Salaam by road.  You will arrive Dar es Salaam in the afternoon if you drive by road.
